EDUCATION
Stewart M. Cowan received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Urban Geography and Political Science from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Santa Clara Law School in Santa Clara, California.
BACKGROUND
Stewart Cowan has been practicing Law in San Diego since 1986. The primary focus of his practice has been Workers Compensation and Personal Injury. He has litigated cases in virtually every court system in the State. Mr. Cowan has been Lead Attorney in Jury trials, bench trials and administrative trials. He has arbitrated and mediated cases in the Superior Court system. He has functioned as a Judge Pro Tem in the Superior Court System and the Workers Compensation System.
Mr. Cowan has presented oral argument before the California Fourth Appellate District addressing both the Privette Doctrine and the California Discovery Act. He is an expert on these issues, as well as many others.
He has represented Employers in the Workers Compensation System, against the California Labor Commission and against Cal-OSHA.
Mr. Cowan has provided zealous representation to clients in over a thousand cases.
